Mississippi Territory

The Mississippi Territory was an organized incorporated territory of the United States that existed from 1798 to 1817. It was created from land ceded by Spain and Georgia, eventually splitting into the states of Mississippi and Alabama. The capital was moved several times, including to Natchez and Washington.
