Miyama, Mie

Miyama was a town in the Mie Prefecture that ceased to exist as an independent municipality in 2005 after merging to form the town of Kihoku. The area is home to the Kumano Kodo, a network of ancient pilgrimage routes designated as a World Heritage Site. Local culinary traditions are highlighted by the production of saury sushi.
