Summary
The Republic of North Peru was established in 1836 amidst Peruvian civil conflicts and the influence of Bolivian President Andrés de Santa Cruz. It formed part of the short-lived Peru-Bolivian Confederation alongside Bolivia and South Peru. The Confederation dissolved in 1839 following conflicts with Argentina and Chile, reverting North Peru to being part of a unified Peru.
