Portuguese Empire

The Portuguese Empire, established from 1415, pioneered European colonialism and the Age of Discovery. It controlled territories across the Americas, Africa, and Asia, reaching its peak in the 19th century. The empire's decline began with the Iberian Union in 1580 and ultimately dissolved in 1999 with the handover of Macau.
