Principality of Lippe

Lippe originated as a state within the Holy Roman Empire, gaining principality status in 1789. Ruled by the House of Lippe, it lay between the Weser river and the Teutoburg Forest. It became part of the German Empire in 1871, later merging into North Rhine-Westphalia in 1947.
