Summary
Created by Napoleon I in 1805 for his sister Elisa Bonaparte, it was a client state in central Italy. The principality formed from the unification of Lucca and Piombino, both previously occupied by France. It was later incorporated into the Grand Duchy of Tuscany in 1809.
