Summary
The Principality of Piombino originated as the Lordship of Piombino in 1399, centered around the town of Piombino and parts of Elba. It was a vassal of the Kingdom of Naples and part of the Holy Roman Empire, stemming from the former Republic of Pisa. The principality was merged into the Principality of Lucca and Piombino in 1805.
