Summary
The Principality of Reuss-Greiz, officially the Principality of Reuss Elder Line, was a state within the German Empire ruled by the House of Reuss. Counts Reuss of Greiz were elevated to princely status in 1778, adopting the title Prince Reuss, Elder Line. Following WWI, its territory merged with the Junior Line to form the People's State of Reuss, later incorporated into Thuringia.
