Summary
The Principality of Samos was an autonomous state under Ottoman rule from 1834 to 1912. It successfully resisted occupation during the Greek War of Independence but wasn't included in the new Greek state. Governed by a Prince nominated by the Ottoman Porte, it had a unique political structure with a Senate and a chamber of deputies.
