Summary
The Raj of Sarawak was established in 1841 by James Brooke, initially through land concessions from the Sultan of Brunei. It gained recognition as a sovereign state from the US in 1850 and the UK in 1864, maintaining a protected status with Britain from 1888. The Raj transitioned into a constituent state of Malaysia in 1963, ending with British annexation in 1946.
