Summary
The Republic of Alba was a short-lived revolutionary municipality in Piedmont, proclaimed in 1796 after a French army takeover. It was established by Giovanni Antonio Ranza, advocating for an independent Piedmontese republic. The republic ceased to exist after only two days due to the Armistice of Cherasco.
