Republic of Lithuania (1918–1940)

The Republic of Lithuania existed as a democratic state from 1918 until its occupation during WWII. It emerged following the end of WWI and sought to re-establish independence after centuries of foreign rule. Lithuania's sovereignty was ultimately restored in 1990 with the Act of Re-Establishment.
