Republic of the North Solomons

The Republic of the North Solomons was a short-lived, unrecognised state in Bougainville, Papua New Guinea. It declared independence in September 1975, anticipating a potential merger with the British Solomon Islands. Increased decentralisation and self-governance led to its re-absorption into PNG in 1976.
