Summary
Ruanda-Urundi was a Belgian mandate and trust territory from 1916 to 1962, formerly part of German East Africa. It was occupied by Belgian forces during WWI and administered under the League of Nations and later the UN. In 1962, it split into the independent nations of Rwanda and Burundi.
