Summary
The Ruthenian Voivodeship was a significant administrative unit of the Polish Crown from 1434 to 1772, centered in Lwów (Leopolis). It originated from the Kingdom of Galicia-Volhynia, following conflicts between Poland and Lithuania. After the Partitions of Poland, much of the voivodeship was absorbed into the Habsburg monarchy.
