Summary
The Second East Turkestan Republic existed between 1944 and 1946 in the Ili, Tarbagatay, and Altay districts of Xinjiang. It emerged from the Ili Rebellion and initially received support from the Soviet Union. The republic was led by Elihan Tore, an Uzbek, and Hakim Beg Khoja, a Uyghur.
