Serbian Despotate

The Serbian Despotate emerged as a successor to the Serbian Empire in the 15th century. It experienced a cultural and political renaissance under Despot Stefan Lazarević, with Belgrade serving as a key capital. The state ultimately fell to Ottoman rule in 1459, though its traditions continued in exile.
