Socialist Republic of the Union of Burma

This state existed under the military dictatorship of Ne Win from 1962 to 1988. It was governed by the Burma Socialist Programme Party, which enforced the state ideology known as the Burmese Way to Socialism. The regime was characterized by extreme isolationism, totalitarian control, and economic stagnation.
