Bonapartist Spain was a Napoleonic client state established in 1808 following the forced abdication of the Spanish Bourbons. Napoleon installed his brother Joseph Bonaparte as the monarch during the Peninsular War. The state existed until 1813 when the French forces were expelled from the peninsula.
