The State of East Indonesia was a federal state within the United States of Indonesia established by the Dutch in 1946. It encompassed the eastern archipelago, including Sulawesi, the Moluccas, and the Lesser Sunda Islands. The state ceased to exist when it was integrated into the unitary Republic of Indonesia in 1950.
