The State of Haiti was a separatist government established in northern Haiti following the assassination of Emperor Jacques I in 1806. It was led by Henri Christophe, who initially served as president before proclaiming himself King Henri I in 1811. This entity eventually merged with the southern Republic of Haiti in 1820.
