Summary
The Sultanate of Siak Sri Indrapura was a Malay Islamic kingdom established in 1722 by Raja Kecil in eastern Sumatra. It controlled vital trade routes along the Siak River and maintained a complex relationship with the Dutch colonial authorities. The last sultan ceded the territory to Indonesia in 1946.
