Tacna Department (Chile)

The Tacna Department was a territorial division of Chile that existed between 1884 and 1929 following the War of the Pacific. It was administered by Chile under the Treaty of Ancón until its eventual return to Peru. The region was a focal point of diplomatic disputes and local acculturation policies.
