Summary
The Territory of New Guinea was a League of Nations mandate administered by Australia from 1920 until 1949. It comprised the northeastern part of the island of New Guinea and the Bismarck Archipelago. Following World War II, it was merged with the Territory of Papua to form a single administrative unit.
