Transkei

Transkei was an unrecognised Bantustan state in southeastern South Africa established during the apartheid era. It functioned as a nominally independent parliamentary democracy for the Xhosa people from 1976 until 1994. The territory was reintegrated into South Africa as part of the Eastern Cape province.
