United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves

This pluricontinental monarchy was established in 1815 following the transfer of the Portuguese court to Rio de Janeiro. It united the kingdoms of Portugal, Brazil, and the Algarves into a single sovereign state. The union dissolved in 1822 when Brazil declared independence from the Portuguese crown.
