Summary
The United Kingdom of the Netherlands was a constitutional monarchy existing from 1815 to 1839, created as a buffer state after the Napoleonic Wars. It unified the former Dutch Republic, the Austrian Netherlands, and the Prince-Bishopric of Liège under King William I of the House of Orange-Nassau. The state dissolved following the Belgian Revolution, which led to the independence of Belgium.
