United Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia

This state was formed in 1859 through the personal union of the principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia under Domnitor Alexandru Ioan Cuza. It served as the foundational core of the modern Romanian nation-state while nominally remaining a vassal of the Ottoman Empire. The union transitioned into the Kingdom of Romania in 1881 following the formal proclamation of independence.
