Summary
Established in 1859, this short-lived military government was formed by the union of Tuscany, Parma, Modena, and the Papal Legations. It served as a transitional entity under the influence of the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia following the Second Italian War of Independence. The provinces were formally annexed by Sardinia in 1860, facilitating the unification of Italy.
