Summary

The United Suvadive Republic was a short-lived breakaway state that existed from 1958 to 1963 in the southern Maldives. It comprised the atolls of Addu, Huvadhu, and Fuvahmulah under the leadership of president Abdulla Afeef Didi. The republic adopted a Westminster-style governance system before being reintegrated.
