United Tribes of New Zealand

The United Tribes of New Zealand was a confederation of Māori tribes established in 1835 in the North Island. It was formed to create a framework for trade and to assert independence following the Declaration of Independence. The entity was effectively superseded by the British Crown after the 1840 Treaty of Waitangi.
