Summary
The Vilnius Voivodeship was established in 1413 as part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, replacing the Vilnius Viceroyalty. It was Lithuania's largest and most important political and economic region. The voivodeship was dissolved with the destruction of the Lithuanian state in 1795.
