Volga German Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic

The Volga German ASSR was an autonomous republic within the Russian SFSR, established after the October Revolution. Its capital was Engels, situated on the Volga River, and it aimed to provide a special status for the Volga German population. The republic was abolished in 1941 following the German invasion of the Soviet Union, leading to the exile of its German inhabitants.
