Deggendorf (district)

Deggendorf district is located in Lower Bavaria, Germany, bordering the districts of Regen, Freyung‑Grafenau, Passau, Rottal‑Inn, Dingolfing‑Landau and Straubing‑Bogen. The Danube river runs through the district, dividing it into a forested north and a flatter southern landscape. Established in 1936, the district acquired its present borders after minor adjustments in 1972.
