Summary
Kronach is a district (Landkreis) in the northern part of Bavaria, Germany, bordering Thuringia and the districts of Hof, Kulmbach, Lichtenfels and Coburg. The area is dominated by the Franconian Forest nature park, with elevations up to 795 m. Historically, the territory belonged to the Bishopric of Bamberg until 1803, after which it became part of Bavaria.
