Lower Franconia

Lower Franconia is one of seven districts of Bavaria, Germany, historically reorganized in 1808 into administrative regions. The region experienced name changes, briefly becoming Mainfranken under Nazi rule before reverting to Unterfranken post-1945. It's known for its wine region and consolidated districts after the 1972 Kreisreform.
