Summary
Middle Franconia is one of the three administrative regions of Franconia located in the west of Bavaria. The region is governed from its administrative seat in Ansbach, while Nuremberg serves as its largest and most populous city. It was historically established as the Rezatkreis before being renamed by King Ludwig I of Bavaria in 1837.
