Pohnpei State

Pohnpei State is one of the four states comprising the Federated States of Micronesia, with Kolonia serving as its capital. Its pre-colonial history is divided into stages of Mwehin Kawa, Mwehin Sau Deleur, and Mwehin Nahnmwarki. Spanish explorers like Toribio Alonso de Salazar visited the island in 1526, establishing a colony and the city of Santiago de la Ascensión.
