Summary

Poltavskaya was founded in 1794 as one of the first settlements of the Kuban Cossacks along the Kuban River. It was initially a small kurin with only 460 inhabitants, named after a Zaporizhian Cossack unit. The stanitsa faced destruction in 1807 due to attacks from local tribes.
