Khorgos Area is a key hub along the New Eurasian Land Bridge, situated 200km from the Alataw Pass. It features a cross-border economic zone facilitating trade and shopping, alongside a dry port for goods transport. The region was formed in 1997 by merging the Ochakovo and Matveevskoe districts.
