Summary
San Benito County is located in the Central Coast region of California, within the California Coast Ranges. Established in 1874 from parts of Monterey, Merced, and Fresno Counties, it was named after the San Benito Valley. Hollister serves as the county seat, founded in 1868 by William Welles Hollister.
