Summary

Yamaguchi Prefecture, located in the Chūgoku region of Honshu, was formed by merging the provinces of Suō and Nagato. The Ouchi clan, influential during the Heian and Kamakura periods, established Yamaguchi as a cultural center known as the "Kyoto of the West". Later, the Mōri clan gained control, strengthening the region's economy.
