Guyana is a developing country located on the northern coast of South America, bordering the Atlantic Ocean, Suriname, Brazil, and Venezuela. Historically inhabited by Arawak and Carib tribes, it experienced colonization by the Dutch before becoming a British colony. The country's geography is characterized by a narrow coastal plain, sandy hills, and extensive tropical rainforests covering most of its territory. Guyana's economy relies heavily on agriculture, particularly sugar and rice, as well as mining, including bauxite and gold. It is the only South American country with English as its official language and maintains strong ties with the Caribbean community.
