About Uganda

Uganda's history is deeply rooted in the kingdoms that flourished in the region for centuries. The arrival of Bantu and Nilotic groups around 3,000 years ago shaped the cultural landscape, leading to the establishment of powerful entities like the Empire of Kitara. European influence began with Arab traders in the 19th century, followed by British explorers who eventually established the Protectorate of Uganda in 1894. This colonial period significantly altered the political and social structures of the area. Uganda gained independence in 1962, marking a new chapter in its journey as a sovereign nation.
