Summary
La Bañeza is a municipality within the province of León, in the Castile and León region of Spain. Founded in the 9th century by Conde Gatón, it originated from the villages of San Pedro de Périx and Bani Eiza. The city received its official city title in 1895 from Queen Regent Maria Christina of Austria.
