Lleida is a city in Catalonia, Spain, serving as the capital of Segrià county. Historically, it was an Iberian settlement of the Ilergetes, known as Ilerda under Roman rule. The city experienced Muslim rule until its reconquest in 1149 and later hosted the University of Lleida, founded in 1297.
