Matsumae is a town situated in the Matsumae District of Oshima Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. It is historically significant as the former seat of the Matsumae clan, who ruled over much of southern Hokkaido. The town is also known for its well-preserved Matsumae Castle.
