Pamplona, officially Pamplona‑Iruña, is the capital of the autonomous community of Navarre in northern Spain. Founded as the Roman camp Pompaelo by Pompey around 75 BC, it later became the seat of the medieval Kingdom of Navarre. The city is internationally renowned for the San Fermín festival and its daily running of the bulls.
