Pannonhalma is a town in Győr-Moson-Sopron county, western Hungary, known for the Benedictine Pannonhalma Archabbey. The abbey, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the oldest extant religious and educational institution in Hungary. Historically, the town was called Győrszentmárton and faced Ottoman incursions in the 16th-17th centuries.
