Porto Novo

Porto-Novo is the capital and second-largest city of Benin, situated on the Gulf of Guinea. Originally developed as a port for the transatlantic slave trade by the Portuguese, it accepted French protection in 1863. Despite being the official capital, Cotonou serves as the economic and administrative center.
